Postmodern names
of prepubescent children
felled by a postmodern problem
of colossal proportions
we refuse to accept.
so, we mourn them in post-shooting
posts with thoughts and prayers
and posthumous praise,
in postmodern funeral repasses
on Facebook, where families and friends
and communities and country
can come together
to wax poetic on
somebody’s children,
somebody’s teachers,
some bodies,
always bodies,
more bodies,
more babies,
posted about
postmortem,
but not fought for
while alive
